Engineering resources
This page is some of the essential resources I believe a Mechanical Engineer needs to know to succeed in their career. Feel free to contact me and let me know what else to include!
GD&T Notes
I took extensive notes during my GD&T training and I hope these help in understanding the fundamentals of GD&T.
If you want to learn more, I highly recommend the training I went through linked below.
Technical Documentation Consultants of Arizona
Michael Sandford was able to compress the basics of GD&T into a one week, 40-hour course and keep my attention throughout. He has a captivating story format to his teaching and it makes every day exciting to go through.
I hope these notes help out!
how a bolt works
Surprisingly enough, a lot of engineers don’t truly understand how a bolt works. Here are some resources to help understand how they work.
A bolt is a type of fastener that relies on axial force causing significant friction at the threads. A tension is applied at the bolt head to generate this axial force. Another aspect of this is to apply a pretension to a bolt. This can improve the connection of the fastener by maintaining the required pressure and preventing the nut from unscrewing from the bolt.
the stress-strain curve
If there is one thing one retains from the Mechanical Engineering curriculum let it be the stress-strain curve. It explains the material properties and how it will react in different scenarios. Read it up and know it forwards, backwards, left, and right.
